MARYANNA ADELMAN works to understand how pathways move through space or how a limb joins the trunk. A pathway is not just a way to move from point A to point B in the physical world, but also is a way to move through time, life experiences and memory. In the Re:Mark series, Adelman pushed the idea of moving from observational drawing/ painting to the metaphorical and then back again to focus on line, shape, color and mark making. The essence of landscape suggests a monumental space; however, the actual size of Re:Mark images is intimate.
