KIM TAGGART
March 1-29, 2019
KIM TAGGART’S unique focus takes graphite to a whole new level in what she defines as “Extreme Graphite.” She developed a technique of smooth, precisionist saturation of tones influenced by Charles Sheeler’s drawings, Mable Dwight’s lithos, and other modern American artists from the late 1920s and 1930s. Using loose graphite applied with a brush, erasers model subtle delineation in delicate values. Compositions take form when graphite sticks create contrasting shapes and small paint brushes soften edges as if painted.
