Robert Castillo is versatile. Though formally receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Jazz Bass, he began painting in March 2018 after accepting the challenge to host a solo show. This decision led to a rich passion for creating visual art using oil, gouache, acrylic, colored pencils, spray paint, and whatever else he can get his hands on. His visual art spans from geometric abstractions that represent personal life events and emotions, to realistic portraits of beloved ones, as well as scenes rooted in his Mayan heritage. Without formal visual art instruction, Robert creates without inhibition. His visual art is inspired by his experience creating and playing music, and often these musical ideas shine through his visual art.
