LORRIE EIGLES
ARTIST STATEMENT
All too often we graduate from school and think that most of our learning is over. Yet I find that my mixed media art gives me a wonderful medium with which my brain and creativity are continually challenged. It sharpens my awareness.
When I find a scrap of paper and toss it onto a prepared birch board and it suddenly ”works”, my heart pounds, I smile and say “yes!” It’s exciting to create something unique every time I make a new piece of art. I’m tapping into an endless well of ideas and creativity.
Mixed media is a very flexible and motivating medium. I use my artist prepared papers, printed images from magazines, calendars, etc., acrylic paint markers, oil pastels, acrylics, rice papers, feathers and whatever catches my fancy. Many things inspire me: Asian and Native American sources, nature (water, trees, mountains, birds, flowers), my imagination and feelings, other artists’ work, music, and stories.
This body of work represents my digging deep within myself and pulling out what’s authentic and sometimes indescribable in words. The art is meant to touch emotions. Feel on…
