Let’s play. The constructed works paint a picture that have less to do with utilitarian function. Rather, they have more to do with referencing everyday occurrences, personified in conventionally humble objects. While handles and necks emanate out as appendages – slip, glaze, color and texture dress the vessels like sauce on BBQ. Interests in pop culture, rock and roll history, sports, or what’s happening with our current political climate – all of this information is used and inferred with each individual vessel. These histories and the desire to capture our humanness in ceramic vessels are of vital importance to me, with hopes of further expanding and contributing to the rich ceramic continuum.
