MEGHAN ROWSWELL

MAY 11 - JUNE 1, 2018

SNAP SPACE – MEGHAN ROWSWELL Fondle Friendly explores touch within the gallery setting and connection through arrangement. The exhibit presents soft sculptures of human anatomy to encourage physical interaction with the pieces. Inspired by medical illustrations many of the pieces incorporate nerves, muscle structures and tendons which show common body parts in various stages of dissection. The familiarity of bodily forms, bright colors, and varied textures invite tactile investigation. Meghan Rowswell draws upon her background in ikebana, Japanese flower arranging, wherein flowers are “brought back to life” through artful arrangement. She extends an invitation to re-animate the “dead” fibers in her works through grouping and positioning of the pieces.
