Proclamation: Prediction and Promise moves from abstract expressionism in the Prophets to a combination of the abstract and representational in the Consider the Lilies, to representational in the Etchings.

The Prophets are large mixed media acrylics on canvas to provide for the inclusion of a horn part and timepiece, relating both to the seer and proclamation nature of the messages. Other materials also are included.

The Consider the Lilies series are oil on canvas, built up in layers. In some, the under painting is the complementary color while in others it is the intended color. However the colors chosen are NOT the original color of the subject flower, and the flowers are not lilies necessarily. The intent is to stress the beauty and complexity of creation. Therefore the element of surprise assists in recognizing this complexity by presenting the image in a different way, an application of Aristotle’s recognition event in Poetics.

The Etchings are merely delights in the beauty of Creation, and thus are strictly representational.
