About the Artist

Amber Mustafic is an Albanian-American artist from New York. In her autobiographical embroidered narratives, she materializes her spiritual and emotional journeys into intricate layers of thread. Emulating brushstrokes of paint, she stitches vibrant dreamscapes where figures float in suspended, atemporal moments of transformation and self-discovery. Lovers, friends and self-portraits are stitched in symbolic, otherworldly atmospheres where the boundaries between the tangible and ethereal blur, exploring themes of relationship, existentialism and the mystery of the human condition. Often using found vintage textiles as her canvas, Mustafic breathes new life into relics of the home, reimagining a medium traditionally associated with domesticity to create dynamic scenes of self-expression and vulnerability.
