Survey of Black Art provides an overview of work by black artists in America. Starting with mid-19th century artists and ending with today's cutting edge black artists, this class is appropriate for everyone from those with no art background to experienced art professionals.This course examines how and why black artists have used various forms of visual art to navigate issues of personal, racial, and national identity.
There will be assigned readings and viewings in addition to the content.
Each course is held virtually and the appropriate online portal will be sent to attending guests.
