Grant Program FAQs

Artistic Production

Artistic Production grants fund the production and exhibition of new artistic commissions, in amounts ranging between $25,000 – $100,000. Often exhibited beyond museum walls in public space, these projects feature high levels of thought leadership, artistic production, and public engagement. VIA Art Fund accepts Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) on a semiannual basis for our Fall and Spring award cycles.

Curatorial Fellowship

The VIA Curatorial Fellowship is awarded annually to a contemporary art curator whose past accomplishments attest to, and current aspirations promise, significant contributions to the field. The Fellowship carries a grant award of $25,000 in discretionary funds for professional development, research, and travel, and participation in VIA partner programs. The Curatorial Fellowship is by nomination only. We solicit nominations from colleagues, constituents, and VIA partners.

VIA Art Fund’s Incubator Grant Program has come to a close.

From 2013 to 2018, VIA Art Fund supported the work of emerging arts nonprofits through its Incubator Grant Program. From 2019 to 2023, VIA and Wagner Foundation partnered on a five-year, $1 million VIA | Wagner Incubator Grant Fund, which supported the building of a robust and inclusive national arts ecosystem. The program awarded unrestricted general operating support to twenty-five small-scale nonprofit arts organizations throughout the United States. The five-year VIA | Wagner Incubator Grant program was successfully completed in 2023.

Due to our small staff and the high volume of correspondence we receive, we cannot take general inquiries by phone. For questions not answered in our FAQs, please email grants@viaartfund.org.
