LILY MUELLER
B I O
Lily Mueller is a multidisciplinary artist based in Kansas City, Missouri. Mueller explores the processes of quilting, painting, collage and installation while integrating them with concepts of psychedelia, architecture and mid century modern design.
Much of her inspiration comes from performing and listening to music alongside memories of her childhood and Nicaraguan heritage. She has been largely influenced by her fathers career as an architect, his interest in 60’s psychedelic light shows, and her mothers love for textiles and fashion. Mueller received her BFA at the Kansas City Art Institute in 2020 and now continues to exhibit her work in Kansas City and across the country.
S T A T E M E N T
I make multimedia paintings and quilts that are inspired by music, psychedelia and architecture. My process always begins with listening to music and playing with shape and color. I am very influenced by art nouveau band posters from the 60’s, mid century modern design patterns and the geometry of buildings. I use all of these design concepts to create work that feels balanced yet makes a bold and colorful statement.
