We are kicking the arts back into high gear this week with KCAC Artist Lifestyle KCAC member Polly Alice McCann (@polly_artist)!

Polly received her Bachelor of Arts from Messiah College in Painting and her MFA from Hamline University in Writing. Today her visual artworks often incorporates the two mediums as Polly tells her visual arts story and we can’t wait to share her world with you all!

We are very excited to see what Polly has in store for us this week, so here are a few words from her about her current work and artistic inspiration…

“I’m an artist who loves words. After being an active part of the arts communities in Harrisburg and the Twin Cities. I moved back home to Kansas City and opened New Thing Art Studio in 2015. I paint lots of things. Portraits of friends and famous people. Large scale neo pop illustrations. And rag tag meditations of textile collage. I like to create my art to be more like poetry—to have symbolic meanings layered from dream images and memories. You could say my work centers on the themes of healing, the everyday journey, and women’s work.”

We just can’t wait to see what Polly has in store for us, so here are a few images of her artwork and past Instagram photos to get things kicked off…
